PHONE REVIEW: Samsung SPH-a840

Ok, so maybe the SPH-a840 isn't the most groundbreaking device on the planet, but we must start somewhere, no?

We like to think of ourselves as a positive group of gadget-lovers, but we're gonna have to give this phone the Sexy Tech thumbs down.

On the surface, design-wise, she's fine. Nice to hold and flip open and close. Yeah, it stops there. The buttons are difficult to use, the reception is consistently inconsistent, the screen resolution is low, and the user interface is mind-blowingly counterintuitive. It kinda seems like every little process you want to perform is in the last place you'd expect.

For instance, when viewing your photos, in order to view a picture, you select the thumbnail you want with the arrow keys, and you hit OK, right? Wrong. That will just make a tiny red checkmark appear in the corner. To blow the photo up, you have to click the soft button on your right and choose the eight command in the list that comes up, 'expand'. Seems a bit user-unfriendly, huh?

Well, anyway, it ain't even worth getting into more examples of this phone's unfortunate suckiness, so we'll just skip to the part where we let you know you can ignore the SPH-a840 the next time you're thinking about getting a low-priced, yet sleek looking phone.
